The Firefish Giftmas Appeal
We have a lot of Christmas traditions here at Firefish, from Fish-mas to Secret Santa: we certainly know how to make things festive!
This year, with the help of the #lovethefish Focus Group, we added a new tradition to the list: Gift-mas! #Lovethefish team were tasked with bringing the shoal even closer together and giving back to the community during this round of Focus Groups.
A new festive tradition
After some time planning as a team, #lovethefish launched Firefish's first ever o-fishal Gift-mas Appeal – a gift drive to help gather gifts for children in the Glasgow area who otherwise might not receive a one this Christmas.
Through Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas gift-giving scheme, we set out to pledge Christmas presents to the children who benefit from the amazing charity Stepping Stones for Families.
For thirty years, Stepping Stones for Families have worked alongside children, young people and families in the greater Glasgow area to give them support, opportunities and a voice in tackling the effects of poverty and disadvantage in their lives.
Throughout the month of December, we gathered gift donations from Firefish team members and some of our amazing customers... then came the fun part!
The Firefish Elves went to work
The Firefish elves got to work in the Hub’s workshop, grouping together gifts to make fantastic Santa stockings for as many children as possible. All gifts donated by our lovely fish and clients were packaged up and delivered to two of SSFF’s Glasgow branches which are located within close proximity to our Glasgow Hub.
Amy and Becki set out on their journey (in Santa's sleigh!) and were lucky enough to meet some of the amazing staff at Stepping Stones for Families who were delighted to receive our donations. This year, the charity has received enough gifts to give Santa sacks to over 300 children and families. We are so proud to have been part of our first ever gift-mas appeal.
