Environmental, Social and Governance

Sustainability Statement

At Firefish Software, we understand that we have a responsibility to not only our business and stakeholders but also to our planet. We believe that by prioritising sustainable business practices, we can create a brighter future for generations to come. That's why we're committed to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance(ESG) factors into all of our decision-making processes and operations. We know that our actions have a significant impact on the environment, communities, and economies where we operate, and we're dedicated to mitigating these impacts through responsible business practices.

Having been a 'remote first' company since 2020, we're able to closely monitor our carbon footprint and waste generation. We take pride in our sustainable practices while working from home and in our Hub, and we're continuously striving to improve our environmental performance. We actively seek out suppliers and partners who share our values and commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. Together, we can make a positive impact on our planet and create a brighter future for all.

Firefish World

What Firefish Does

Hardware

Where practical, all hardware that reaches the end of its lifespan is returned to our Hub; approximately 85% is recycled by a trusted 3rd party supplier. Where possible, we re-deploy equipment between Fish.

Energy

Energy consumption at our Hub has significantly decreased since the move to being a ‘remote first’ company in 2020. Our energy provider uses more than 75% renewable energy as of latest data. We also exclusively use energy efficient LED lightbulbs in our Hub.

Coffee Recycling

Coffee is a vital part of Firefish, so we exclusively purchase coffee pods that fund sustainability projects in the countries where it is grown, along with being fully recyclable or compostable. These sustainability projects will have an impact on climate change by managing farming practices in the coffee-growing regions of Africa and Central America.

Recycling

Our Hub has multiple recycling bins for all types of recyclable material. We commit to recycling as much of our waste as possible and practical; recycled cardboard packaging for our new employee starter kits, recyclable paper cups, plates and straws.

Consumables

At Firefish we are committed to using sustainable products wherever possible. We are also committed to purchasing no single-use plastics for use within our Hub. All of our new employee kit deliveries are packaged into as few boxes as possible, to reduce the carbon emissions generated. All merch and employee products are sourced from suppliers that provide fully recycled options.

Paper Waste

All confidential waste and paper generated is treated with the utmost care and security. Our secure recycling process ensures that sensitive information is properly destroyed and recycled in a responsible manner.
