The first Friday of September saw the return of our Fish Focus Day. We hold our Fish Focus Day biannually, and the aim is to bring the Firefish family together, set our priorities for the next six months, and live our value of 'Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously' by having a bit of fun together as a team.
Start the Day off Right
To kick off the day, we tucked into breakfast before our Head of Happiness Vicki gathered the Fish for presentations on what each of our teams has been up to this year, and we’re pleased to report it’s been a stellar six months! At the last strategy day, we heard that every team had smashed their targets and been performing really well, but this time around we exceeded even those numbers. This is thanks to our amazing team members, both old and new, working really hard and living the Firefish value of ‘Be Your Customer’.
Since the last strategy day, the Growth Team (with new starts Gabriela and Joanne) has been producing some excellent content in the form of blogs and Crowdcasts, and performing a record number of demos.
Team Happiness has had a shakeup, with Queen Louise taking over Success and Talent Magnet Vicki moving into a more internal Happiness role. Along with new starts Paul and Ashley, they have been getting sky high scores for customer satisfaction, culminating in making the finalists at the Glasgow Business Awards, for Excellence in Customer Service!
The Product Team has seen the biggest influx of new Fish, welcoming Alec, Stewart, Colin and Jon to the Aquarium to help roll out version 3 of Firefish Software. But that doesn’t mean they’re resting on their laurels – the Product Team is running full steam ahead to add even more new features to our recruitment software, as guided by our roadmap and the ideas our users submit on the Firefish Community.
While our brains digested all the information, we set to work demolishing our lunch, ordered in once again from the fantastic Social Bite. So, with bellies full and energy replenished, the Fish reconvened to hear the business aims for the next six months, and brainstorm ideas within our teams for how we’re going to achieve them. With GDPR rapidly approaching, we want all our teams focussed on ensuring our customers are best placed to show intention to comply. The new regulations come into force in May 2018, so this is set to be the company's overall focus for the next six months. With some excellent ideas on the board, it was time to let loose and get physical…
White water rafting time! We’re very lucky that our office is situated five minutes from the Pinkston Water Sports venue, so we packed up our Fish, wrangled them into wetsuits and put them into rubber dinghies to plunge down rapids in a Glasgow canal. Despite a few of our Fish not actually knowing how to swim (!!) they had a whale of a time in the safe hands of our instructors from Outdoor Pursuits. Once we'd all suitably dried off, it was back to the Aquarium for a little bit of a party. Not everyone knows how to swim like a Fish, but we all know how to drink like one!
