What a way to begin a decade
Last month, we announced our official expansion to London when we welcomed London-based Growth Specialists, Matt Jelley and Jo Bradford, to the shoal.
This month, we’re starting the new year (and new decade!) as we mean to go on...
We're extremely excited to announce that we’ve welcomed Chris Varley as our new Firefish CTO!
Back when our Chief Fish Wendy owned her own recruitment agency, Chris was one of her best clients. She always loved working with him and massively respected the work he did with his technical teams, so bringing him on board has been a real no-brainer!
But who is Chris Varley?
Chris has a whopping 20 years’ experience working in senior strategic technical roles, so he’s perfectly placed to work alongside our awesome product team and help us continue scaling our award-winning product.
As well as becoming our new CTO, Chris is also joining Wendy, Andrew, Louise and Kai on our Board of Directors. This is a really pivotal hire for the business and we’re all super excited to have him!
Some other reasons we love Chris
Chris has built an illustrious career that’s made him well-known within the tech industry, but Chris has a few personal claims to fame too!
For example, he was in Berlin on the day the wall came down and was taught martial arts in Beijing by one of Jet Li's classmates (we’ll make sure not to get on his bad side!).
He’s also a Fish with a big heart, as in 2016 he swam 10k in open water to raise money for charity. It’s safe to say he’ll fit in well at the aquarium then!

Chris has chosen the perfect time to start swimming with the best. This month, we turn 10! And we couldn’t think of a better way to start our birthday celebrations than by welcoming Chris into our shoal.
