John McInall - UI/UX Front-End Developer at Firefish Software

John McInall

UI/UX Front-End Develolper

On a mission to make the (web) world more beautiful our UI/UX Developer, John, has a soft spot for salted caramel Galaxy chocolate and red velvet cake.  But aside from snaffling scrummy snacks, what does he get up to?

So tell us, John: what made you want to be a Fish?

I love being able to positively influence how people use their websites, having an impact on someone's experience of a site and making sure it looks great.  Being able to push the boundaries, be innovative and think outside the box to do do things that haven't been done before really motivates me so there was no question about my desire to be a Fish!

What was your first job?

In my first job, I played computer games.  Seriously - I played games like Call of Duty!  I loved it, it was really exciting and was great to get paid to do something that's my hobby.  That's what's so brilliant about my job now: I get to do my hobby as my full-time job.

Speaking of hobbies, what do you get up to when you're not in the Aquarium?

I'm passionate about design so do a lot of that in my spare time, and I also play rugby, football and computer games.

If you were a superhero, what wold your power be?

Definitely flying - who wouldn't want to see the world without having to spend a fortune on flights?!

Is there anywhere in particular you'd like to fly off to?

I've always thought the Dominican Republic looks really picturesque so I'd definitely go there.  I'm hoping to include a visit there as part of our honeymoon when my fiancee and I get married.
