The Technical Operations Engineer is brand new, vital new role at Firefish as you’ll provide technical support to your Firefish colleagues, monitor alerts and maintain servers, and use your SQL skills to create and deploy scripts.

You’re going to love this job if:

  • You're looking for a role where you're responsible for the day-to-day operations carried out in the technical support team (such as ordering SSL certificates, creating new databases and website entries.) Acting as the first point of contact for your colleagues, you'll investigate and fix any problems they encounter while also taking responsibility for supporting the business with our existing operations reports (and being involved in the design of new internal reports!)
  • You enjoy maintaining servers, and are good at spotting abnormal behaviour and investigating what's going on.  You'll be our eyes and ears when it comes to keeping a watch on our servers and applications, reviewing the output of our current monitoring and suggesting any improvements or automation so that we're always on top of things.
  • You love putting together scripts in SQL and are keen to develop your skills in this area.
  • You enjoy providing and maintaining software and hardware, with tasks including administrating mail accounts, PC builds and software upgrades.
  • You’re super organised, and able to prioritise your work to make sure everyone has what they need, when they need it.

Our ideal next Fish will have a degree in Computer Science or a related IT discipline (or comparable experience) and around 2 years’ application support experience.  We hope you’ll be used to interacting with clients and have a knack for offering technical support to non-technical people.  You’re fluent in SQL Server, and will ideally have experience configuring and administrating Window Server environments along with IIS and SQL Server Instances.  An interest in learning about service health monitoring including CPU/memory/disk usage and other indications to provide a stable environment on the production servers would be great!

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a well-oiled, Agile SaaS environment that has grown 60% organically year-on-year and offers outstanding opportunities for progression.  Your workload is in your own hands – not dictated to you – and you’re not seen as just another ‘cog in the machine’.

So, if you want to be part of something ground-breaking, something different…join us!
