Footballing Fish?

The world may have been in a football frenzy in July, but our Fish weren't fussed as we knew the real competition was still to come!  To celebrate the end of the World Cup we had our very own foosball tournament in the office! 

Once referee Vicki had made her final pitch inspections it was time for our Red and Blue teams to take their positions for kick off! Some inspiration may have been taken from Mario Mandzukic as the occasional own goal was scored, and after playing through the knockout stages it was down to a tense final between John and Scott, with Scott scoring the winner that saw the Blue team take the Cup!

We're not sure whether the national teams all go down to the pub together after such a crucial match, but that's how we do things here at Firefish!

Turing Fest

So Turing Fest was actually at the beginning of August...but I hadn't written this article when Wendy, Katie, Christine and Vicki ventured through to Edinburgh for a day of talks from technology experts in the areas of product, engineering, strategy, marketing and culture ;) 

We arrived excited and keen to learn from global tech leaders who are at the top of their respective games, and left completely inspired with fresh ideas to implement back at the Aquarium.  Not only that, it was great to catch up with old friends and make new ones, all of whom share our passion for the technology sector and are growing amazing businesses.  And Christine particularly enjoyed the free popcorn...!

Happy Fishaversary!

We got the balloons and confetti out this month to celebrate Joanne's first anniversary with the Fish.  Joanne works in our Growth team, helping recruiters to find the best solutions to help their businesses swim to success and has made a massive impact in the last year.  Congratulations and here's to many more!

Baby Fish Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo

Marketing Email Executive, Gabriela, said adios in July as she headed off on maternity leave. To earn her pizza lunch, Gabby had to guess the Firefish babies (there were a few red herrings in there - we're pretty sure Justin Bieber and Princess Charlotte have never set foot in the Aquarium!) 

Just a few days later, beautiful baby Ariella arrived - congratulations Gabby, and welcome to the shoal Ari!

Fish of the Month

Every month we celebrate the Fish who has made the best contribution and is living our company values.  This month's winner was described by his colleagues as having implemented processes and created documents that have allowed a number of the shoal to work more efficiently and effectively.  He's quietly brilliant, constantly doing his best for our customers and making time for his colleagues to talk through queries.  A real unsung hero.  Our Fish of the Month for July is our wonderful web wizard, Colin! 

After such a busy July you'd think we'd be putting our feet up in August.  Nah!  We'll be back next month with more Aquarium anecdotes!
